Jonathan CHOI re-elected Chairman of CGCC

 

The election for the 51st term of Chairman of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce was held today (Oct 19th). Dr. Jonathan CHOI Koon-shum has been elected as Chairman of CGCC.

 

Eight Vice-chairmen have also been elected. Among them six are re-elected. They are, Mr. YUEN Mo, Mr. Ricky TSANG Chi-ming, Mr. Brandon Liu Tieh-ching, Ms. Connie Wong Wai-ching, Mr. Tommy Li Ying-sang and Mr. Johnny Yu Wah-yung. Two newly elected Vice-chairmen are Mr. Herman HU Shao-ming and Mr. Rock CHEN Chung-nin.

 

Dr. Jonathan CHOI thanked to the trust and support of the new Committee. In the coming two years, He will spare no effort with the new committee in making greater contribution to promote the Chamber’s affairs and the prosperity of Hong Kong. Dr. Jonathan CHOI has been elected as Chairman of CGCC for the first time since October 2008. He has been serving CGCC continually as Permanent Honorary President after the completion of service as the 46th and 47th terms of Chairman, and has been elected as Chairman again in October 2016.

 

Dr. Jonathan CHOI joined CGCC in 1997. He has been serving CGCC in the capacity of Committee Member, Standing Committee Member and Vice-chairman respectively. He has been the 46th and 47th term of CGCC Chairman and was well versed in the Chamber’s affairs. He is currently Standing Committee Member of the National Committee of CPPCC, and was awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star by the HKSAR Government. He has been serving social and public affairs in different fields, and fostering the development of business associations in different regions. His business is highly diversified with a wide spectrum of sectors including seafood & foodstuff, real estate, financial services, technology, media, infrastructure and education, with branches scattered across Europe, America, Canada, Australia, Japan, South East Asia, Hong Kong, Macau and the Mainland.

 

The Inaugural Ceremony for the new term of office will take place on 30th November (Friday) at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Ministerial leaders of the Central Government, principal officials of the HKSAR Government and leaders of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government are being invited as the officiating guests.
